Personalised Waterproof Jackets

Printed waterproof jackets are essential if you want to stay dry! Typically these are used as a throw on garment when it starts to rain and can be easily stored and packed away. Whilst your custom waterproof jacket can be embroidered it is advisable to print onto waterproofs so that the outer shell of the garment remains waterproof. Our quality and attention to detail are second to none and our turnaround times are excellent.

What Makes a Jacket Waterproof?

Hydrostatic Head: What Does It Mean?

When you see a jacket described as “waterproof,” it’s not just marketing speak. The science behind it is called hydrostatic head (HH). This measurement tells you how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. Imagine a column of water sitting on the fabric-the higher the column (measured in millimetres), the more waterproof the jacket.

  • 1,500–5,000mm → Good for light showers and everyday use.
  • 10,000–20,000mm → Great for hiking, backpacking, and heavy rain.
  • 20,000mm+ → Designed for serious mountain adventures and extreme weather.
  •

Tip → If you’re regularly out in the hills or mountains, aim for at least 10,000mm. For everyday use, you might not need such a high rating.

What Do The Numbers Mean?

Waterproof Ratings:

  • 5,000mm: The minimum rating for a jacket to be called rainproof. However, it won’t stand up to much more than a light shower.
  • 10,000mm – 15,000mm: Withstands most downpours and heavy snow, but will soak through over time if subjected to pressure, such as crashing in wet snow, kneeling, sitting down, or carrying a heavy pack.
  • 20,000mm and Up: The rating you should look for if you're planning to be out in all conditions carrying a heavy load.

Breathability Ratings:

  • 5,000 – 10,000g/m²: This level of breathability is fine for resort skiing, urban travel, or camping, but will get a bit clammy during high-intensity hiking or climbing.
  • 10,000 – 15,000g/m²: Ideal for adventurous travel or backcountry skiing, but breaking trail through snow or straight uphill might prove too much.
  • 15,000 – 20,000g/m² & above: An extended trip to the hills, trekking in warm climates or otherwise working hard and perspiring heavily.
